What it is
What It Does
Judyrecords (judyrecords.com) is a free search engine for United States court cases. It indexes case records drawn from public court systems and lets users search across them from a single interface. The site claims to cover 760 million-plus US court cases — by its own account, far more than Google Scholar or PACER. It is positioned as a research resource for lawyers, law students and the public.
What We Found
In early 2022, Law360 reported that judyrecords.com had published thousands of records that were meant to be confidential — including ethics records in California and juvenile court records from several states. Following that reporting, the site disabled its search function, saying it was doing so “while any possible case access issues are resolved.” The records themselves were drawn from publicly accessible court systems, but the inclusion of material that should have stayed sealed drew scrutiny.
What We Haven’t Verified
- “760 million+ cases” and the comparisons to PACER / Google Scholar — site’s own figures, not independently audited.
- Headquarters listed as Ireland in directory data — not confirmed; the operator is not publicly identified.
- Founding date, headcount, funding and any business model not found.
- Current search availability and coverage may have changed since the 2022 controversy.
