What It Does
Casetext was an AI legal research company best known for CoCounsel, an AI legal assistant built on large language models for tasks like document review, deposition preparation, contract analysis and legal research memos. The original Casetext product also offered case law search and brief analysis tools for litigators.
What We Found
Thomson Reuters acquired Casetext for $650M in cash, with the deal announced in June 2023 and closed in August 2023. The CoCounsel brand was carried forward by Thomson Reuters and now anchors its generative-AI assistant lineup.
