What it is

What It Does

Legislate is a UK contract management platform aimed at non-lawyers — small businesses, startups and landlords who create, sign and store contracts without in-house legal counsel. Users generate contracts from lawyer-approved templates, negotiate, e-sign and store them in the platform. The company describes its product as built on a knowledge-graph approach that makes contract data searchable across a company’s agreements.

What We Found

Legislate was founded in April 2020 by Charles Brecque in Oxford, England. The company raised a £1M seed round in 2021 (investors including Parkwalk Advisors, Perivoli Innovations and Oxford Capital) and a further round reported at $3.6M / £3m in 2023, again led by Parkwalk Advisors. Its positioning targets the “unlawyered” segment that does not retain dedicated legal teams.

What We Haven’t Verified

  • Customer numbers and active usage — no independent figures.
  • The Zapier integration is listed as vendor-claimed; we have not tested it.
  • The LinkedIn handle on file (legislate-for-life) — we have not confirmed it resolves to this company rather than an unrelated entity. The contract platform may use a different handle.
Integrations
