What It Does

LawHawk is a New Zealand legal document automation consultancy founded in 2016 by former corporate/finance lawyers. It builds and hosts automated document templates, with a focus on complex banking, construction, and corporate documents that need legal analysis to automate correctly. The company works with law firms, in-house legal and procurement teams, and businesses, primarily in New Zealand but with delivered projects in Australia, Singapore and the US. It specialises in the HotDocs automation engine and offers template drafting, automation, management and hosting as a service rather than as off-the-shelf software.

What We Found

LawHawk’s principals are experienced New Zealand lawyers, including co-founders who left private practice (one a former Buddle Findlay corporate/finance partner) to build the consultancy. It is a HotDocs partner and integrates with OutSystems and Secured Signing. One published client result, from New Zealand housing agency Kāinga Ora, cites an average 75% reduction in time taken to produce contracts after automation — this is a vendor/client-reported figure we have not independently checked.
