Reallegal
What it is
What It Does
RealLegal is the originator of the E-Transcript format, a long-standing standard for delivering electronic deposition and court transcripts with page/line integrity and tamper-evident signatures. Its products historically included E-Transcript Manager, E-Transcript Viewer, and Case View/LiveNote tools used by court reporting agencies and litigators.
What We Found
RealLegal’s litigation technology division was acquired by LiveNote, which itself was later acquired by Thomson Reuters. The E-Transcript format and LiveNote-related tooling now sit within Thomson Reuters’ litigation product line. RealLegal is not an independently operating vendor today; readers should look to Thomson Reuters (LiveNote / E-Transcript) for the current product.
What We Haven’t Verified
- The exact current product naming and support status under Thomson Reuters.
- Historical adoption claims (e.g. share of US court reporting agencies) are from older press and not independently confirmed.
Note
The LinkedIn handle previously attached to this entry (real-legal, listed at 2-10 employees) did not match the historical RealLegal / E-Transcript product and has been removed pending verification.
