Counsel
What it is
What It Does
Counsel (getcounsel.co) is a matter-tracking tool aimed at AI-native law firms, specifically firms serving the emerging-company / venture-capital (ECVC) market. It connects to email, messaging and documents and keeps matters, tasks, deadlines and client commitments updated automatically, with the stated goal of removing manual data entry. The vendor also describes AI agents that draft, redline and respond using a firm’s context.
What We Found
The company operates as GetCounsel, Inc., describes itself as “Made in Britain”, and lists offices marked SF, NYC and LDN. Its site names early customers in the Silicon Valley startup-law space, including Presidio (a 40-lawyer firm and Atrium spinout) and solo/boutique practices such as Westaway. The product is built around automatic email sorting and filing to the correct matter.
Who It’s For
Best fit for emerging-company / VC-focused firms and boutiques — solos through ~40-lawyer practices — that want matters to organise themselves from email and documents. It sits across the intake/matter-management and drafting/review stages. Less relevant to large litigation shops or in-house teams.
What We Haven’t Verified
- Customer claims and the “zero-touch” automation claim are vendor-supplied; we have not tested them.
- Founding date, headcount, funding and pricing (demo-gated).
- Depth of the email/document integrations beyond the vendor’s description.
Integrations
Platforms Counsel integrates with. Depth — where curated — reflects how native the connection is. Uncurated entries render without a depth dot.
Deep — bi-directional API Medium — one-way sync / webhook Shallow — middleware / Zapier-class
