Abacus Private Cloud
Part of the Caret platform.
What it is
What It Does
Abacus Private Cloud (APC) is a managed cloud-hosting product for law and accounting firms, sold by CARET (formerly AbacusNext). Rather than being practice-management software itself, it hosts a firm’s existing applications and data in a managed virtual workspace — including CARET’s own tools (AbacusLaw, Amicus Attorney, OfficeTools) and third-party apps like QuickBooks. The pitch is regulated-industry hosting: firms run their current software in a dedicated environment instead of on local servers.
What We Found
CARET markets APC as supporting 4,500+ applications with managed backups, monitoring and security/compliance controls. It is one of several products under CARET, which also owns the AbacusLaw, Amicus Attorney/Cloud and CARET Legal practice-management platforms. Listings appear on Capterra and Software Advice, though independent review depth is limited.
What We Haven’t Verified
- Pricing — quote-based, not published.
- The “4,500+ applications” and uptime figures are vendor claims we have not independently tested.
- Current data-center footprint and certifications.
